I visited Germany last year and it was amazing! I can only imagine living there full time.

Hopefully, they have some kind of car scene for you to check out and to be a part of.

Congrats on your new adventure, I wish you all the best!!

We?ve delved into the car scene already and it?s Pretty Cool, They?re not big into Drag Racing, But driving our BMW X6 M series Competition SUV at 145mph for almost 25 miles on the Autobahn will get the blood pumping too !!! LOL

    It?s Absolutely Beautiful !!!
And living 2 miles from Germany?s oldest brewery is a Bonus !!!

Congrats Aaron, that is freakin rad! Sounds like you landed in a hell of a cool spot too!
My grandparents on my fathers side of the family immigrated here from Germany and I've always wanted to go see the country. Gotta put that on the 5 year plan.

I'd love to hear more about the area you guys are in and how life is there, so keep us posted as you guys get settled in.

    WOW it?s been a minute Buddy !!!
It?s still pretty surreal, even though we?re here, It?s only been 8 days yet we?ve gotten a vehicle and just a very very small place to hang our hats LOL, It still hasn?t fully sunk in !!! And still adjusting to the 6 hour ahead time difference.

This area of Germany is Beautiful, Reminds me of West Virginia where I grew up without the Depressing Economy and Meth

As soon as I figure out how to post pics on here I will, But if anyone wants to see our adventures friend me on the bookface or follow my wife and I on instagram (WanderingWidays)

And if anyone is planning a trip hit me up ?

Have fun Aaron. I've personally never cared for German food, and always preferred a bad British beer over a "good" German beer any day - when I drank - but I do envy your ability to get out on the autobahn though I have cracked past 170mph on I-74 - though not for 25 miles. I have wanted to visit there only for the autobahn and because I have traced my heritage back to Old Germany. Our people crossed the Atlantic and settled first in PA in the 1670's.

I think the Food is Phenomenal !!!
Maybe it’s what dish you had ???

We had the cruise set at 136 today for 55 miles coming back from Koblenz, from getting our son a car also !!!

Unfortunately the BMW is speed limited to 155, but we hit that a few times !!! LOL

I could honestly see us staying for 5-10 years

The only thing German Fare I was able to eat without getting an upset stomach (German food that is available locally) is the Frickizee or however you spell it. Brattwerst, Sausage, Brahnzwagger(sp), and soforth just doesnt work for me. I do have to retract my stetement on the beer claim however. There is a German restaurant in Miamitown Ohio that is called Kreimer's Bierhaus. They make awesome steaks and other US dishes as well as quite a few German dishes (family recipes) I have never had a desire to try. That said, they have a family beer made in Germany called Kreimers Dark that is the smoothest drinking beer you ever tasted. When I was a training specialist I used to take classes there on Tuesday nights. They had to try the Kreimers Dark or pay for their own meal. Not once did I have someone switch after they drank the first pint over a year and a half.

Glad you like it there. I know it has to be beautiful with the mountains and architecture. Enjoy man, I am certain you are missed back east here in good ole USA.

So how was the track? I'd love to go over to France see LeMann (sp?) (and Normandy) some day. Rumor is Ford is going back to LeMann to run in the top class again like back in the 60s with Ken Miles.

It’s Very Cool, But not ideal as a spectator due to the track being so long and spread out, you see the cars for 30 seconds and then wait 6-8 minutes to see them again !!!

We’re planning on going to Spa and their museum this weekend, And I’m sure Lemans will be soon on our list ... Normandy will be a trip too, But I prefer the off the beaten path, Not touristy WWII sites, Have about 40 of them on my list …

When I was in England, I had the chance to go to Oxford two nights. The first night I was taken to the tourist attraction pubs. The second night we hit the ones that were off the beaten path so to speak. Needless to say the second night was way more fun. While I am certain there are parts of Normandy that are tourist traps, that doesn't reduce the importance of what happened at a given area. I wouldn't let something as petty as "touristy" stop me from going there to see important sites such as Utah Beach as so much happened there and so many died taking that beach. My friend and old Navy buddy Wes who has been there many times now has never had anything negative to say about any of the things he has experienced with regard to the WWII historical sites there. Like you I enjoy finding those hidden gems. But while in England I also enjoy the fact that I saw Big Ben, 10 Downing Street, the spot where the Beetles crossed Abby lane, having breakfast in Scotland Yard, and seeing the royal Palace. But one of the most memorable site was one of the Cathedrals known as Westminster Cathedral not to be mistaken for Westminster Abbey. The other enjoyable experience was having a traditional Sunday afternoon tea (roast beef, yorkshire pudding) at a restaurant called Oxxo which years later was used to film a scene in one of the Thor movies. I learned that while watching the movie series (Ragnarok I believe). THe scene looked real familiar. I looked it up and sure enough the scene was filmed at Oxxo where we had Sunday afternoon tea.

Enjoy yourself Aaron. I am happy for you. I wish I was as outgoing and adventurous as you are being right now. I have a cousin like you who has been everywhere including the summits of Mt Everest and Mt Killiminjaro. I don't know how she finds the time or the money to do it. She just takes off on a whim and it happens. Keep us updated and have a blast. Just don't drink the sewer water in Paris. LOL!
