OK guys, I chimed in on this thread because I know Tom and thought he was getting alot of flak about his Yates headed project. Because I know these engines quite well I just wanted to voice my opinion that with a proper combination this engine is easily capable of the hp #'s he quoted.

I feel I need to apolagize if I sounded like I was being smug. I just try to state facts and then back them up. With all the folks trying to stifle racing as a whole the last thing I would want is to take anything away from the sport. The tone started to get ugly and for that I feel bad.

There were some questions. Here are some more facts. My website is VERY old, I think 1999. It was put up by a PR company that I worked with briefly, they didn't do a great job and the site was never kept up and they never removed it, they own it I don't. I had a better site after that one but when I "retired" so was it.

As for championships I have won ZERO. To be fair I never ran for them, I chose to try for wins and was never really a points racer. I did win rookie of the year at Kil-Kare. In ARCA I won ZERO races, that would have been a major miracle for a small team like mine. Like I said I was a tiny fish in giant pond. Winning against multi-million $ teams wasn't really possible, we ran to finish the race and get as good a finish as feasable.

I have never kept good count but in all my racing I won some where about 80 races. Those are mostly oval track but I also won a SCCA race (the only one I ever enterd) and quite a few drag races with a V8 Pinto back in the 80's. I again feel blessed to have got to fullfill my childhood dream and drive race cars.

Yes, I raced at Queen City Speedway. I actually got to sit on the pole the last race there and was leading when my engine blowd up Daytona style as they say.

The reason I converted my old race car to a street car is that it has been sitting in the shop for years and thought it would be neat to do something with it. The body went out of date in 2001, so it was used as a show car untill I hung it up. It was my first "big time" race car so I have always wanted to keep it and it seemed a shame to just have it sit there, now it's getting some use and helps do some advertising. Also I was at the Milford deal ONCE, not even close to every weekend. That's the only time I have had it out expect for a few drives around shop and one to the house. It still has some bugs to work out but it's a fun project.

I decided to to stop on the ENGINE and finish the car. The car is ready for ft end parts. The mini tub and cage is finished(Tks K&M). I should be back to the Engine before long... Do some research your self and you'll see there is many of these yates headed 358's in the 750hp range.
