It goes from 1500 grit to 12000 grit and includes a foam pad and compound. Works good I think. We use it on aircraft windows at work also. Removes scratches pretty good.
Im at 3000 grit and then a cotton cloth. If that could fit my 16v drill. I'd get it. Heck my 3000 grit pad is very smooth. Feels like a normal piece of paper.

This is all hand polishing. I don't think they make anything to fit a drill.

That how I like to lighten up my cars. By buying nicer stronger/lighter parts rather than stripping things out. Its a win win win situation.
draggin50
02-23-2016, 12:01 AM
Yeah that's one way of looking at it. With a car that nice, I wouldn't (or couldn't) bring myself to gutting it. That's for sure!

Any word on the cage idea?

If I cut it up I know I'll regret it. Haven't decided on a cage yet. I'm not sure how much I'm going to track it. If I blow this motor. I'll probably jump off a cliff

Does tristate have the rules that E20 has or are they more lenient?
Kwik92GT
03-24-2016, 03:03 PM
Rules?? What are these rules you speak of??
USMCPONY
03-24-2016, 03:59 PM
Rules that only apply to whoever they choose to bitch at. Such as a car can run 9.1 at 155 mph without a cage over and over again. But then a another guy runs 11.1at 130 mph and he gets kicked out. I just want to run a couple good runs and that'll probably be it for me. I can't afford to break this thing right now.
draggin50
03-24-2016, 11:05 PM
Tristate has been real easy as far as tech the few times I ran there. "You have a catch can"? "Yep". "Your good then"!!! That's all they cared about. Not being sanctioned by NHRA makes it easier. IHRA vs NHRA.
USMCPONY
03-25-2016, 02:42 AM
I've never been there but it would be nice to be able to run all out without getting in trouble. I just want to run a couple times and that's it. When I ran at KK I hit the brakes right around the 800'-900' and ran a 10.4 @ 90mph and when the guy gave me my time slip he was shaking his head when I was still driving up and said, "You just had to stay in it didn't you?! Don't do it again!" I honestly thought i was going to run a 11.5 or slower. To get a car to run fast and be legal to run gets stupid expensive. I'm at the point where I'm done throwing money at this thing. I could of had a Lamborghini Gallardo at this point.
draggin50
03-25-2016, 10:17 AM
The money gets out of hand quick at those power levels. Safety isn't no joke though. There has been a lot of people wreck and even die lately due to the lack of equipment.
Lyle Barnett has a very good video out since his wreck. Granted he was running 4.0's at close to 200 mph. The biggest thing is to live and race another day.

USMCPONY
03-25-2016, 12:38 PM
True. Since I don't have a cage I only want to get a couple good runs in and be done until I get what I need. I need a built rearend, 15" wheel conversion, carbon drive shaft, and a 8 point cage. The cage is $5500 since its wrapped in leather. They have to fit it perfect (which I want) and its going to cost allot more $$$$$$. This may be a few year project to get it where I want/need it.
draggin50
03-26-2016, 01:47 AM
If your going to do it, might as well do it right and how you want it. No reason to cut corners.
cstreu1026
03-26-2016, 05:56 AM
Isn't it going to be hard to certify a cage wrapped in leather?
draggin50
03-26-2016, 09:30 AM
Certified then wrapped is probably how it will be done. Then a spot left open for the sticker.
USMCPONY
03-26-2016, 11:03 AM
Sorry. The dash is wrapped in leather. They're going to have to cut it and form it around the cage. Which is going to take allot of time apparently. Also id like to get the cage wrapped in leather as well but that's not included in the price.
USMCPONY

Been kind of slacking with updates. I got behind waiting on fittings for the intake and fuel system. I also custom made a four point stream vent system to help with cooling. I'll post pictures of it when I get a chance. The fuel pumps are in. Now I just have to put it back together. Only took me a little over a hour to put them in.

Since the corvette has absolutely no room in the engine bay. I had to make room. So i made a bracket for the fuel pressure regulator and the catch can.

For those who don't know. I ended up primming the motor. Once the oil pressure rised oil started running from the back of the block. So i spent all last weekend taking everything back out of the car. Inspected everything. I noticed the rear main seal wasn't completely round. It was so small of a difference its nearly impossible to see. I believe its enough to let oil get through. Even though its a brand new seal. I ordered another one and I'll be putting it together this weekend.

Ended up making a alignment tool for the rear main seal. Ended up putting everything back together. Primmed the motor and it started leaking again. After inspecting and inspecting and inspecteing. We found out that after they machined the block. The bolts were only snugging the rear plate. The bolts were bottoming out and snugging the plate that we thought it was tight. Thus allowing oil to escape once oil pressure was reached. So we're gringing all 12 bolts and re-installing everything. Im almost positive that's the only issuse. Fingers crossed

Just a little update on the car. The car won't come out of reduced power mode. Its throwing a few codes on my scanner and like 50 codes on my hptuner. I was going to have a shop look at it but they're all backed up for 5 weeks. By that time it'll be too cold to enjoy the car. So i decided to spend the rest of this nice weather with my 1 year old son instead of messing with the car. Like I've been doing all summer. I may change a few things but haven't decided yet. The other night while he was sleeping I hand polished my new throttle (I bought a new one since the throttle body was one of the codes). Im having a hard time getting into the tight places. I'll make some improvements.
Possibly future Modifications:
RPM Stage IV differential
Powerglide conversion
Switch to a F1x. Which is the biggest blower that'll fit a c6 (I have the second biggest)

The front bumper is off so they can put it on the dyno. Made it easier to put on the tow truck too. The carbon splitter for it was $2,000 and I don't want to replace that. Its too low to the ground to chance it. The fenders are off because the ecu, meth injection, coil packs and wires are all hidden in the fender. If there's a wiring issue. Its right out in the open. No reason to pay someone to take the fenders back off and possibly damaging them. They are going back on the car.

That's a awesome idea. I don't think that would work on mine because the ysi isnt self lubricanted like Procharger blowers. Mine gets oil from the engine. Which the my motor has a pcv catch can that relieves crank pressure. So idk. Im just a garage mechanic with limited knowledge. Ive never built anything like this before.

USMCPONY
02-18-2017, 08:21 PM
Probably will never happen unless I make a kit myself. Car is setup up for a blower. Id have to change my balancer again, flip drive, direct drive, change the alternator bracket and relocate it, then id lose A/C. Not much room in the engine. A blower is the most practical.

I also ordered a Dallas Performance f1x 10 rib billet bracket and their 4.5" big mouth filter. I'll need a 2" cut down radiator for it to fit. Only problem is I don't want to spend $1,000 on a new radiator and fan setup. While I'm waiting for my parts to arrive. I decided to lower my radiator myself. I took out the radiator support. Cut off the brackets and lowered them approximately 1 1/4" down and 3/8" forward. I also have ECS radiator support 1" spacers. I also trimmed the rubber bushings 5/16". After finishing I can't believe how much it lowered the radiator.
Before cutting off brackets

I have to ask. After all the effort and expense you have expended, would you do it again?

Rob at Rogue Race Cars did the fab work. I'm not sure if I can answer that. If my car runs what I want it to. Then yes. But I'm at the point that if I break something major. I'm screwed. I went way to far with it financially. It was nearly a $80,000 car to begin with. There's no transmission that'll hold that much power except a 2 speed powerglide. And that's a $30,000 conversion with it being a trans axle. At the same time. There's probably only 5 other 1500+hp streetable Corvettes in the work. If all else fails I guess I could turn it into a show car lol.

Rob does good work but there is a blue mini tubbed coupe that has been there for 2 yearss for a cage yet there have been countless other jobs completed after it's arrival.

I've been waiting to see what was going on with this. The build is ridiculous, in a good way, lol. What's up with the honey comb in the charge pipe, I've never seen that before?

Simply Awesome. Who will be tuning ?

It's a air straightener. It's put right in front of the mass air so you get a more accurate reading. Works good with methanol injection too. Brian at finish line performance is tuning it.

I call dibs for the first race once when it's done. Roll, dig, Or track. No stips. We can run for fun or a few bucks. Whatever you prefer.
