1978 5.0L Ford Fairmont Sedan (ie 4 doors).
The good:
-50something thousand original miles.
-Always been garaged.
-Little to no rust, this thing is clean.
-Paint is doo-doo brown in fair to good shape.
-"Butterscotch" vinyl top and interior.
-Really, really nice interior. Seats are pristine, carpet nearly new. Dash pad is in need of some TLC. Not cracked, but discolored.
-Has a new MSD "off-road" coil and ignition box (both are fully potted), along with a new MSD billet distributor and wires.
-New Silverstar sealed beam headlamps
-Lots of fancy chrome and stainless steel trim
-Factory aluminum bumpers
-All lights are intact.
The bad:
-A mouse got into the A/C evap box at some point. I cleaned what I could by removing and swapping the fan box out. The mouse never made it in the car though, so there are no chewed wires. If you are going to pull the heater box to make it a 4 door racecar, this will not matter.
-The A/C does not work.
-Does not run so great anymore, she needs tuned up and to be driven regularly.
-Headliner is sagging, but still there in great shape.
-The sealant around the windows is a bit overkill. Ford slathered that tar-like crap on like it was going out of style. The front and rear windows (IMO) need to be pulled, all that sealant removed, then re-set the windows with a newer type of sealant that actually dries.
I can provide pics in the next day or so.
SB price: $1000
Some background on the car-
It's been in the family since new. His wife's grandfather bought it new in fall of 1977. It's one of the first Fairmonts ever made, with a Oct 1977 build date. I bought this from my brother a few years back but have never gotten around to doing anyting with it. I'm selling it so the woman can park her car inside the garage.
