long time no updates...but as cars go so do media rooms...more power, more improvements. Added a 5 channel 180wx5 parasound A52+ to the Marrantz Cinema 50. Changed the speaker config from 5.2.1 to a 5.4.2 config. Room now has two pairs of ceiling speaker (front and back) and added 2 REL HT/1003MKII 10" subs @ 250watts each. Finally needed more cabinet space to support the amp and future upgrades. So rather than spend 1500+ on a name brand audio cabinet, I cloned and made my own to my own custom size and improvements. It was fun working with extruded aluminum, wood, and doing finish work...something else I wanted different in the cabinet so it would better match the room. Also since the photo added an Nvidea Shield Pro streaming unit as well. Still have the blue 14 GT mustang btw. Oh the wood wedge peices have since also been replaced with a suitable foam replacement ot hold the center channel at optimum angle for listening.

Thanks man. It had been a long time since I did any staining. I tried several different processes for creating the distressed look I was trying for. Finally found it. Getting the clear coat to lay down was also a struggle as I had not done that in forever either. Tried a water base poly and it flopped. The lower piece was to be the top and vice versa as it is poplar. But there were waves in the poly as it did not level out. So I resorted to an oil base when I did the top piece and it turned out a lot better.

Tough call on the movie question as I have quite a few. Midway (the remake), and Quiet Place 1 and 2 are really awesome for both plot and sound effects. Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Oblivion, Ford vs Ferrari, 1917, Solo, Finding Elmo, and Dune 1,2 are also great to watch with awesome surround sound effects.

ALL those are very good choices!

I would add Days of Thunder, and the Fire Fight in Predator!
