Here are a few from today so far. First are some wiper arms in 40% gloss black. The rest are procharger piping and brackets for a hemi truck in mirror black.

After seeing his examples, bro. I want to get my whole engine bay powdercoated!! Ill pick up the covers tomorrow, Kenny.

Side note - I have Chrome BBK covers but the bastards leaked like a sieve. Even with RTV. The BBKs dont have baffles under the pcv holes and my friggin catch can was totally full after a 600 mile trip. Oil was all over the place. So instead of going back to drab stockers, I did the next best thing. Cant wait to see them in person.

Well I've gotten alot of people how well high temp powder holds up but I've never been able to give a good answer from personal expierence. Well that will change here soon. I ordered new exhaust for the powerstroked Excursion and powdered it high temp black. I hope to have it on in the next few days so we will see how well it holds up. Here are 2 of the 3 big pieces. I could have never dreamed of doing parts like these in that little oven.

Well here is the rest of my truck exhaust. What I had on the other ones was high temp flat black but ran out so I bought some gloss black just to compare the difference. I also looked on MBRP's website and they sell the same exhaust that is powdered for $300 extra over the cost of the exhaust:eek:

Well I'm back home and back to work. Good news for those of you that have inquired about high temp powder. I coated my whole truck exhaust which is a power stroke btw, and after 1600 miles of towing our HEAVY camper (ex temps in the 900-1100deg range the whole way) the powder held up perfectly. Here are a couple things I've done since I've been back. First is some Harley parts and the other stuff is more Mr2 parts.

Picked up a new toy so I thought I would use it as a business card/test piece to show off and see how different powders hold up. Here is a pic of what I started with. I already did the exhaust in high temp gloss black, which is holding up really well on my truck so we will see how it does on the quad. I hopefully will have alot of updates over the next week or two so hopefully this thing will look totally different here soon.

Hey Kenny... I thought I read alittle while back where you had a color comparable to Ford's Blue they use, found a guy selling the real thing:

http://www.modularfords.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1400813#post1400813

Not sure if that is expensive for powder or not

mustangboy
07-08-2009, 10:14 PM
I've been looking for that color, thanks. However that is very expensive for powder but like he said it is still cheaper than buying a new set of valve covers. Also if anyone is interested you would have to buy the powder and bring it to me. Also for any 4v guys a half pound may not enough to do a set of those BIG covers. It would be very very close to being enough. Thanks for the heads up.

Here is some work from this weekend. First is a set of hood pins I did, sorry its a bad pic they look much better in the sun. Next is a set of valve covers that I did in a color I havn't tried yet called black carbide. It has a nice texture to it but much less than wrinkle black. The next couple are the same satin black but one is on some Harley exhaust tips and levers and the other is for some parts for my Honda 400ex.

Well phase one is just about done on the quad. I powdered the exhaust, heat shield, levers, brake pedal, heel guards, pegs and wheels. I also added new handle bars/grips, front bumper, 6pack rack and brake pads all around. I want to do something about the plastics but not sure if I want to shell out for new ones so I'll just wait to see if I can find some really nice used. I hope to start phase 2 over the winter when I hope to find a nice used frame that I can powder and then transfer everything else on to that one. So far here are the results.

Hey look I did something that is not black or chrome. My brother just got a quad that is black and green so I did the muffler in green to match and the bumper in black. We will also be doing several other parts of it so I'll get a pic of it when we get it back together. Also I did a new color called blue purple flip flop. I'm not getting quite the color contrast as I hoped but you can definately see blue and purple in it. Maybe if I layed it on something with more curves and different angles it would show up better.

Here are a couple sample pieces I did last night. The darker one is called Solar Rain and it is a black transparent. The lighter one is black chrome and it does have more of a blue/gray tint to it. To get the best effect with these you need to lay them down over chrome or a nicely polished aluminum piece. Honestly I LOVE the solar rain, its a really wicked looking color.

I can get satin and gloss black, blue, white, aluminum, cast alum, red and orange. The orange and red do require a clear so the price would be a bit higher. I also can also get the chrome and make it somewhat shiny however I don't currently have the buffing equipment to get the brilliant shine that is possible.

Few more things. First is an oil pan that was pretty crusty and rusty, it is done in Ultimate chrome and acrylic clear. It was very overcast so it does not show up real well. Next are some vent covers from around the house. Left to right is befores blah brown, bronze bead blast metallic, white silver vein and cloud white.

I've been wanting to do these for a while but was waiting to get my drum of stripper. It literally only took about 1min for the paint to be completely gone from the vents. Next on my list is some brass ceiling lights that I'm gonna do in stainless. See powder isn't just for car parts.:bigthumb

Hell yeah man! I saw your car and was looking for you too.

Russ...my neighbor across the street rolled up with me in his 74 Camino....I had his 5 year old daughter ride with me and he had his older daughter....we walked around and all...then went to eat. When we came out seemed like half the crowd left so we rolled out.

I held my burnout....but got on the interstate ramp pushing my suspension to about 100mph :D

But dang....between the powder coating and the cleanign I have done....I was pretty proud of my bay. Not perfect by any means....but I like it. :bigthumb
