Thanks Mike.
Anyone know anybody that has messed with the Lexan Scoops, not the best looking creations but as long as it is functional I believe that's the way I'm heading?

Not any pictures right now but slowly working on some other things on the car. It is currently at Rogue Race Cars, hopefully it will be ready to be picked up in a couple weeks. Then it will go to Bruce Gould for all the body panels to be lined up. Once that is good, it will go to the Chassis Dyno to see what we can get to the rears wheels.

Spent some time this evening at Rogue Race Cars, took some scotch bright to the underside where it was bare metal. It had accumulated some surface rust as you can see in the photo with the fuel cell. Then I sprayed it all in flat black, sorry but I didn't take any photos of that. We also worked on the engine limiters and alternator mounting bracket. More photos will follow soon on this one, now on to post photos of the other one.

Spent the day at Rogue Race Cars, got a lot accomplished. We feel the car is ready to go so off to Bruce Gould to get some body panels aligned on it.

Suspension was reworked to allow the 3 1/2" exhaust and to help prevent it from dragging the pavement. The front of the car was raised appr. 2 1/2-3" and the rear was raised appr. 2-2 1/2", Love the stance on it.

She's coming along !!!

2Fast4You
06-21-2015, 01:27 AM
Thanks Aaron, it is coming along surely. We also scaled the car again today and rechecked the tow, total weight with me in it and adding 41.5lbs in the center rear of it we came up with 2900lbs total. That's with me the driver in it, all fluids including a full 5 gallons of fuel and so on. I'm feeling pretty confident that this will be making some passes soon and getting down the track in a hurry. The only down fall at this time is that it has a 3.27 gear in the rear end, didn't find that out until today while we had it on the lift. I'm going to roll with that for the time being but will need to look into a steeper gear soon. It's a great highway gear and this is my street car after all. Lol

Forgot to mention as well that we replaced the existing front coil over springs QA1 12-170 for some Hypercoil 14-150's up front. This should give us a little more height adjustment and to be able to get the weight to the back wheels as we want.
With this being said, the QA1 12-170's are for sale if anyone may be interested.

Well, Bruce told me today that he has everything lined up and the only thing left to do is to install the hood latch assy components.
Next step, get it on the chassis dyno and get it set up to hit the track. Hopefully by next weekend I will be heading somewhere to start making some passes, it's only been 4 years in the making for this car.

So, went to install my new harness last night and guess what? Wasn't able to install them, they were suppose to be the ones that the shoulder harnesses wrap around the back roll bar and they were the bolt-in. I know things happen but I'm on a tight schedule to get this car out as it is!

Did some other work needed on the car. Didn't have a restrictor plate in the cooling system so it was getting up to 200 degree's when I was down at E20 2-weekends ago. Made a restrictor plate and pulled the cooling fans into the engine compartment to pull the fresh air into it. Didn't test this until today and had great results, with the pump on it got to about 190 degrees. I then turned on the fan and almost instantly dropped to about 185 degrees and kept dropping, didn't even think about getting any warmer. I am happy with the results.

But really, #3 is where the bottom of the list starts right now I think. Above that, you have Beefcake and Shannon and both of those cars are quick. And Chad will take my spot soon too. His runs real good. And if Tony and Bill get a chance they will be on there soon also.

There are a lot of fast cars on here. Just have to get them to the track and set up some races. Im sure your car will make enough power to be up front as well.

I'm hitting the dyno friday to verify the problem is fixed. Then turn up the boost, then get the slicks outta the storage room and go up the list. I think low 10s are doable. Depends on what the dyno says and how my trans holds up.

So, as for everyone that was at E20 on Friday. They know that I had a technical issue that caused the car to smoke while going down the track like a freight train on my second pass. Well, after some evaluation with my brother, here is what we didn't find keeping the oil from under coating the entire car and components!
Not happy about it, but at the same time I thank God that worse things didn't happen as a result from this!

09-02-2015, 10:17 PM
Most of you don't know but I have been chasing an excessive valvetrain noise that I just couldn't figure out. This is one reason for being so nervous to make that first pass down the track, as most could tell, Lol. I decided to pull the valve covers again today just to give things a once over again. I started checking the rocker movement and to my surprise I found excessive movement between the rocker itself and the trunnion. I'm going to call Comp Cams tomorrow and see if they still offer the rebuild kits for these rockers. I also have a charging system issue, had the 1-wire GM Delco Remy alternator tested at J&N Auto Electric and they said it was good. So I'm going to replace the battery being it is a couple years old and see if this helps, I was only able to start the car 5-6 times and then it was dead. I guess that's to be expected with the new build jidders.

Rick93coupe
09-02-2015, 11:13 PM
You probably already know it but grounds are a big deal on a battery relocation. I was having a charging issue that ended up being a missing ground to the frame in the back of the car, even though the battery was tied directly to the back of both heads.
Secondly I thought it was fixed because my voltage was much better but realized my battery disconnect didn't work, so I ran the charging wire from the alt all the way back to the battery side of the switch and it's better than ever. The lowest I've ever seen it is 13.5 volts.

2Fast4You
09-03-2015, 09:48 AM
Thanks Rick, I will eventually figure it out. It sounds like a ground to me as well but the alternator from what I understand is self grounded to the engine and shouldn't require anything else. So with that being said, I'm going to add some ground straps to the engine block to see if that helps out.

Rick93coupe
09-03-2015, 11:10 AM
Yep self grounding, unless the engine isn't grounded well, lol.

In the winter it drops down to around E70 in some spots. Big difference in blend.

The way I look at it, if your using E85 to go fast, your probably not doing a whole lot of driving / racing in the winter. I think you'd be better off buying a drum of Ethanol and mixing it up if you get a lower mixture than you wanted from the pump. You'll be way ahead cost wise too.

We just saved you a new motor lol. I highly recommend getting a sensor. When I ordered my fore triple pump. I upgraded it so I could use a sensor. I saw a guy test his in the middle of summer and only got 40%. If a truck driver fills up the wrong tank with 87 octane. It could be the end of your motor if you was to rev it out. I buy a barrel or two of renegade e85 from Adam each year. I use it anytime I am going to the track. The stuff is pretty reasonable.

During the summer I fill up one of my empties with pump that tests good. That's what I use for running around on the street. My local Kroger and thorntons have tested anywhere from e67 to e88.

I have to figure a way to plumb in a Flex Fuel sensor on my projects as I intend to drive them on the streets. I would hate to be up at The Green and run out of Drum E85. But for the track, drum E would be cool!

I always carry 2 cans with me anyways. I don't want to run out and the closest place to me is 20 miles away. On the SBZ cruise ins, I fill up before I go and use 1 can on the way home. So much for gas mileage!!!

For now I have just got 5-gallons from the local pump, I'm going to invest in purchasing it by the drum for the race season though.

No, it shouldn't be an issue just to run it in the garage.

I was more curious as to what it tested at. It would be fine to run on either way.

I broke one of my glass testers and needed to check something quick.

I used this. http://hagensdiy.blogspot.com/2012/04/diy-ethanol-content-tester.html

It actually was just as accurate for those that like diy.

A few updates since the last post. I converted to E85 with the E85carbs.com kit, it included everyting to do it using my existing 950HP.
I also removed the stock steering wheel and installed a Grant steering wheel w/ the Grant quick release and adapter.
Installed an LED light in the car so I can see in the evenings. The car still runs after the installation of the MSD Power Grid Ignition Controller, Heck Yeah!
Changed the ring and pinion from the 3.27 to a 3.73, should make a big difference for the 60', 1/8 and in the end 1/4.
As some already know, I was having issues with the car blowing through the tires about 20' out and the car shooting right.
PTC told me that the highway gear was putting to much load on the converter so I needed a bigger gear with this converter.
I will see how the 3.73 works and then install a 4.10 and so on, this is just work in progress. I hope to see some good passes soon.
